Overview

The Late Knight Warriors AFSP Walk Committee is responsible for recruiting participants, fundraising, and spreading awareness for the AFSP Out of the Darkness Walk.

This committee brings our presence to life at one of our most meaningful community events of the year—where teamwork, purpose, and community engagement come together to support an important cause.

Core Objectives

To create a high-impact, memorable presence at the AFSP Walk that represents Late Knight Warriors with pride—while strengthening community ties, increasing visibility, and delivering a meaningful and engaging experience for both members and the public.

Committee Structure & Roles

Leads the committee and oversees all operations to ensure successful execution.

  • Ensure timelines, milestones, and deadlines are met
  • Align all efforts with LKW and AFSP mission, values, and goals
  • Lead and facilitate committee meetings
  • Oversee all committee managers to ensure accountability and execution
  • Gather estimates for event-related costs and coordinate budget approvals with the board
  • Maintain budget compliance and transparency (track expenses, receipts, and spending)

Manages organization, documentation, and administrative coordination.

  • Schedule meetings (Director + at least one board member present)
  • Create meeting agendas
  • Record and distribute meeting minutes
  • Assist people with team sign ups
  • Maintain organized records for the committee

Leads sponsorship and donation efforts.

  • Identify and reach out to potential sponsors and donors
  • Secure financial or in-kind contributions (ie: team shirts, waters, etc)
  • Build relationships with supporting organizations

Leads content creation and event visibility.

  • Capture photo and video content during prep and event day
  • Go live during key moments
  • Assist the Marketing Director with social content (TikTok, Instagram, Facebook) as needed 
  • Support press outreach and media follow-ups
  • Engage local organizations (chambers, community pages, etc.) for coverage
  • Ensure all communication and marketing assets adhere to AFSP and LKW guides

Leads on-site engagement and relationship building.

  • Recruit participants and encourage community involvement
  • Engage with attendees throughout the event
  • Introduce LKW to community leaders, vendors, sponsors, and media
  • Build relationships that strengthen organizational visibility

Support the committee based on skills and availability.

  • Participate in fundraising efforts
  • Join and support the Walk
  • Assist with event-day execution
  • Attend and support the team
  • Contribute without holding a leadership role
  • Get design options for the team t-shirt
